Treat your ghosts, goblins, and ghouls to some scary snacks this Halloween! They will love sinking their fangs into Roasted Pumpkin Seeds, Graveyard Dirt, and Jack-O-Lanterns. They can wash all those great treats down with some Purple Punch.
Roasting Pumpkin Seeds
1 1/2 tablespoons margarine, melted
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic salt
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 cups raw whole pumpkin seeds
Preheat oven to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C).
Combine the margarine, salt, garlic salt, Worcestershire sauce and pumpkin seeds. Mix thoroughly and place in shallow baking dish.
Bake for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
You can serve this in paper cups decorated to look like tombstones, or small plastic coffins, or whatever else you can think up.
2 cups cold milk
1 package of instant chocolate pudding
1 tub of Cool Whip
1 package of Oreos, crushed
Gummy worms and spiders
Whisk pudding mix and milk together in a large bowl until well blended. Let stand 5 minutes.
Stir in Cool Whip and half of crushed Oreos.
Place 1 tablespoon crushed cookies into each cup. Fill cups 3/4 full with pudding mixture. Top with remaining crushed cookies. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Decorate with gummy worms and spiders (stick them half in and half out of the dirt). Makes approximately 10 servings.
12 navel oranges
12 cinnamon sticks
1/2 gallon dark chocolate ice cream
Cut off tops of oranges. Gently hollow out pulp leaving a thick shell; hollow out pulp off tops also. Cut Jack-O-Lantern faces into each orange. Pack chocolate ice cream into shells, avoid letting ice cream come out of holes. Cut a hole into top of orange top.
Set tops back on, over ice cream, and inset cinnamon stick stem through the hole.
Place in freezer for at least 3 hours, or until serving time.
4 cups cold milk
2 cups chilled ginger ale
1 cup cold unsweetened grape juice
1 1/2 cups vanilla ice cream
Combine all ingredients in punch bowl. Stir. Serve. Makes approximately 10 servings (2/3 cup each).
