There is something special about Mother’s Day that embodies the time of year it comes in — it seems only fitting that this holiday would be in a season when greenery, flowers, and lively animals are fully vibrant, beginning to rise from the ground and the trees. I cannot imagine the void there is when a mother is not present — for mothers who are in retirement communities and assisted living, it can be a time to honor everyone who holds a mother’s place — whether emotional or biological.
