The time has come again—complete with nacho cheese dip, gathered family and friends, and plenty of commentary: Super Bowl Sunday!
Did you know that the NFL has an idea in the works for former, elderly Hall of Fame players: “Legends’ Landing”? Ideally, not only will former players be living in this one community for support and relating to each other—something that otherwise would not be possible in a normal senior living situation—but this is where they may also eventually receive treatment for long-term head injuries and/or dementia. Here’s a direct quote about its purpose: “It’s part business, part nostalgia and part a sense of responsibility to ballplayers whose bodies — and possibly brains — have been bruised by the game.”
Use this as a topic of discussion with your residents and/or colleagues.
The article is from NPR, and you can find it here.
Have a great football weekend! And watch out for flying nacho cheese!
