Take advantage of spring’s natural magic (and the warmer weather) by taking all of your birthday celebrations outside. Use some of these fun ideas for birthday parties, or activities, while you enjoy the fresh air of springtime!
1. Garden Party
An outdoor birthday party is wonderful opportunity for a classic garden party theme. Create a quaint garden party space with rose garland, paper lanterns, and lots of pastel colors. And, of course, don’t forget the flowers and plants (if you don’t already have a garden on the premises). You can even have seniors get all dressed up for an extra-fancy garden-themed birthday party!
2. Ice Cream Social
Warmer weather is a great excuse to have some ice cream! Since it’s springtime and the snow and ice has thawed, ditch the cake and have an ice cream social outdoors for a birthday party. Complement your ice cream theme with brightly colored tableware and balloons to match your birthday sweets, or use Mini Ice Cream Bowls for those creamy treats.
3. Picnic Parties
Turn your monthly springtime birthday parties into an outdoor picnic! Cover picnic tables with gingham table covers. Offer a light picnic lunch as your meal: lemonade, sandwiches, and watermelon. Use picnic baskets of different sizes for decorations, or add some butterfly balloon bouquets by each table for spring décor.
4. Luau/Beach Party
Head to the “beach” for spring birthdays! Choose an outdoor spot and decorate your party space to look like a beach or tropical luau. Use lots of whimsical decorations like fish, tiki idols, grass skirts for table skirts, surfboards, and more. You can even dress up the birthday honorees with sunglasses, leis, and straw hats so they can feel an island king or queen for a day!
No matter how you choose to celebrate springtime birthdays at your center, keep it light and bright like the season. And always take the party outdoors when you can. After a long, cold winter your residents will love getting some fresh air during a festive party.
