National Nursing Home Week is May 10-16th and the American Health Care Association has announced this year’s theme: Bring on the Fiesta! Resources have been posted and the planning can commence! And, with the official subtheme of “Speaking the language of ‘Familia, Vida and Amor’” (Family, Life and Love), there are multiple ways residents can celebrate.
Spending time and being present with loved ones is one of the best ways to belong, remove stress and connect. Visitors and families during this week and beyond can connect and share through social media—it’s a fantastic way to keep up and record memories with mom or dad, grandma or grandpa and what they are up to!
Life: it’s one of the most simple and precious things to celebrate. Whether it’s creating a wonderful festive atmosphere for your party or having special food and drinks, it will undoubtedly be a great way to celebrate those around you.
The Chilean poet Pablo Neruda said, “To feel the love of people whom we love is a fire that feeds our life.” Love fuels so much of our outward actions and attitudes. As healthy giving and receiving in relationships increases, quality of life gets better for everyone involved! As NNHW draws closer, you can brainstorm exciting and creative ways in which residents, their families and visitors can connect on a deeper level and have a great time.

And, to help out with decorations and supplies, M&N has an entire Fiesta-themed party section for your convenience. Ready, set…plan!
